The internal GPU already has way better bandwidth and can be more cost AND performance effective than a card that costs hundreds of dollars. That way, you could select, for example, the song title under linked text, then format and place it on the slide template the same way regular text is formatted and placed. Not only would you have to buy a card, but you would also need a pricey TB3 enclosure which can end up being a bottleneck if your task requires lots of data going to AND FROM your card.įor PP7 use, an eGPU works just fine because you’re just pushing some display data one way, so no crazy rendering.īut I think since Apple really has a good grip of performance with their silicon, I’d say it’s not something to really worry about that eGPU’s are out of the picture. What would be ideal is to make the CCLI information available as linked text when creating presentation templates, similar to how a timer can be place on a slide. It was never a totally viable solution for some tasks anyway, therefore making it not a good value. But I assume you probably don’t want to hold out.Īs for eGPU support, I personally don’t believe it’s coming back. Reports indicate the next up Macbooks with the rumored “M1X” processor will support up to 3 external displays. You can get around this with a Displaylink adapter (or maybe even a good ol’ Dualhead2go or Triplehead2go), both of which can be more CPU intensive (but not as much as you’d think). Yeah, like u/RegularFolk2 said, your external displays are limited natively to 2 on M1 Mac Mini and 1 on the M1 MacBooks.
Newest version of PP already has native support for Apple M1.
